UAE Tax Expert
Most costly UAE tax mistakes happen in the gap between two taxes.
A Corporate Tax group is not a VAT group. A free zone is not necessarily a Designated Zone for VAT. A Qualifying Free Zone Person's 0% rate does not shield it from the Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax. And the AED 375,000 threshold is measured on income for Corporate Tax but on supplies for VAT. This skill reads a transaction across these taxes together, and ties every conclusion to its article.
Available release: November 2026 · Legislation and guidance consolidated to 7 November 2026.
Five layers checked on every question
- Corporate Tax, including free zones, exemptions and tax groups
- Transfer pricing between related parties, as a separate lens
- Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax for multinational groups
- VAT, together with e-invoicing
- Procedures: audits, assessments, voluntary disclosures, limitation and penalties
It only shows you the ones that change the answer.
Why I built a UAE tax skill
The UAE was one of the countries whose accounting I led at group level at Foodics, and its tax legislation moves fast: since 2022 it has introduced Corporate Tax and dozens of implementing decisions, then the Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax, then e-invoicing, alongside successive amendments to VAT and tax procedures, some retroactive and some with deferred effect. In that environment the practical question is rarely "what is the rate?". More often it is "which text applied to this period?".
It is the third tax skill on Nitaq after Saudi Arabia and Egypt, and it works the same way: it starts from the transaction date and the tax period, screens the layers internally, then reads each article it relies on from its file while answering, instead of quoting numbers from memory. Ask in English and the whole answer comes back in English, citations included. The skill's working instructions are in Arabic, and the package includes an English guide to them for readers and reviewers who don't read Arabic.
What's inside the skill?
The legislation itself
The Federal Decree-Laws on Corporate Tax, VAT and Tax Procedures, Cabinet, Ministerial and FTA Decisions, the top-up tax decision, and the e-invoicing legislation. Claude reads the article it relies on from its file while answering, and gives you a link to its page in the official document.
FTA guides and clarifications
92 FTA guides and public clarifications, presented as the FTA's practical position rather than binding law, with a map showing which guides predate a later amendment.
A map of where the taxes meet
A table of concepts that share a name but not a rule, a timeline of when amendments took effect, and the points where two taxes meet on one transaction.
What isn't in the package
A list of legislation that has been issued but is not bundled, so if your answer turns on one of those texts, the skill tells you so plainly.
What will it help you with?
Checking the effect of a transaction before you sign it, reviewing a return before you file it, responding to an FTA assessment or query, or preparing a memo to discuss with your tax adviser. The issues it handles most often:
- Qualifying Free Zone Persons and the 0% rate
- Small Business Relief
- Related parties, transfer pricing and documentation
- Management fees and intra-group recharges
- Cross-border services and the reverse charge
- Corporate Tax and VAT groups
- Restructurings and intra-group asset transfers
- Losses and the interest deduction cap
- Domestic Minimum Top-up Tax
- R&D tax credit
- E-invoicing phases
- Assessments, voluntary disclosures, limitation, penalties and deadlines
Excise is covered at a basic level. Emirate-level fees are out of scope, and treaty-based conclusions need the treaty text.
How is Claude's answer different with the skill?
Claude knows a lot about UAE tax from its training, but it answers from memory, and its memory stops at a certain date. The skill changes how it gets to the answer:
Example: you ask about a Corporate Tax group for 2024. The Ministerial Decision governing tax groups changed from 2025, and the right answer for 2024 comes from the earlier one. The skill starts by asking about the period, then opens the decision that applies to it.
I tested it before publishing on questions written in English and in colloquial Arabic, in the style of everyday work questions. The test files are inside the package for anyone who wants to review them.
Start with a request like this
Use UAE Tax Expert: our company is registered in [free zone] and provides management services to a sister company on the mainland for [amount] a year. Tax period: [year]. What is the effect on Qualifying Free Zone Person status, transfer pricing and VAT?
Always give the tax period and the transaction date, and say what you want back: a quick answer, an analysis, or a memo.
